Meet Shelida Johnson, MA, NCC, LPC

Shelida is a licensed professional counselor specializing in trauma and grief. Shelida received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University. Shelida has received specialized training in the areas of Brainspotting and grief counseling. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Psychology, with a specialization in Trauma and Natural Disasters, from Northcentral University.

For nearly 8 years, Shelida has served children, adolescents and adults during significant transitions. Shelida believes it is crucial for individuals to have a space to process difficult thoughts and feelings in a safe environment. Her service areas have included individual therapy for adults and children, group therapy and comprehensive child and family assessments. She has provided services to individuals dealing with issues around grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, and has further provided psychoeducation and skills training to families of children with emotional disturbances. Shelida has provided support in a variety of settings, including community, crisis intervention (first responder) and private care. Her approach is person-centered, centered around the principles of empathy and non-judgement.
